Joshua Chen receives the 2023 Rose Undergraduate Research Award

Department of Materials Science and Engineering Senior Joshua Chen has received the 2023 Center for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships (CURF) Rose Undergraduate Research Award for his project,  “Computer vision AC-STEM automated image analysis for 2D nanopore applications,” under the direction of Professor Marija Drndic.

The Rose Foundation generously funds the Rose Undergraduate Research Award, recognizing outstanding undergraduate research projects completed by graduating seniors under the supervision of a Penn faculty member. The Rose Fund is administered by the Center for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships, and awards are determined each April on a competitive basis.

A native of Palo Alto, California, Joshua has also received both NSF and DOD graduate fellowships, and is also the recipient of the following awards; The M&T Award, Penn Engineering Exceptional Service Award, and a member of the 2023 Senior Design Team, Pouragami, which won the MSE William Graham Social Impact Prize. He plans to continue his studies in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department (EECS), at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
